The defending Mountain East Conference Champion Fairmont State Fighting Falcons are the preseason favorite heading into the 2025-26 season, as it was announced during the MEC Basketball Media Day at WesBanco Arena. The Fighting Falcons were voted by 10 head coaches in the league as the number one team in the conference. West Liberty comes in ranked 2nd in the standings with the lone remaining first place vote.
